Filmmaker, Heidi Ewing
An intimate audience with New York based Oscar-nominated and multi-award-winning documentary filmmaker, Heidi Ewing.
Club Kwench is thrilled to announce an evening with award-winning documentary filmmaker, Heidi Ewing. You may be familiar with her work through such films as the Oscar nominated Jesus Camp, Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You, or Detropia.
Heidi will join us for one night only to discuss One of Us, her newest exploration (with co-director Rachel Grady) into identity, risk and the individual vs the community. The film follows three individuals as they seek to leave the insular and deeply private Hasidic community. This is a stunning Netflix original.
Come along and seize this opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the current industry greats. Heidi will talk about her process, the characters, filmmaking in general and whatever else may arise at this intimate soiree.
About Heidi: The co-owner of New York’s Loki Films, Heidi is the co-director of Jesus Camp (Oscar nominee), The Boys of Baraka (Emmy nominee) 12th & Delaware (Peabody winner) and DETROPIA (Sundance and Emmy winner). Most recently Ewing co-directed Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You, the opening night selection at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The film was recently nominated for an Emmy alongside PBS American Masters. Ewing is currently at work on The Arrivals, an innovative hybrid film about two successful New York City immigrants searching for a path to legalization. Heidi is a member of the Directors Guild and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
One of Us is the sixth feature length documentary Heidi has directed with Rachel Grady.
